Here is where I am going to put my interview from a John Deere salesman named Chad. I asked him five questions. Here are my questions and his answers:
Questions:
1) How long did you work for John Deere?
2) What is the biggest change you have seen during those years (fuel efficiency, design, safety, etc.)?
3) What changes do you see being made in the future?
4) I know you work with drones, so do you see them working with tractors in any fashion?
5) Do you think driverless tractors are going to become a common technic?
Answers:
1. Recently worked as Integrated Solutions Manager (technology guy) at one of the largest John Deere Ag machinery dealership in US for past 3 yrs. Been actively operation farm machinery over 30yrs.
2. Biggest change is the expanded use of technology inside the cabs. From autosteer, telematics, tablet based applications, etc
3. Future will have more influence on technology & move to more automation. Great detail to inputs and advancing techniques to increase corn yields over 300bul. When I was your age (30yrs ago) 175bul was a HUGE yield!
4. Yes drones will become common here in the US over the next few years.
5. I agree, skilled labor force on our farms will continue to be an issue. Looking for technology to help.
