Farmers use GPS when they are doing almost any field work. GPS allows the farmer to go straight through a field without even touching the wheel! On the tractor, a beacon mounts on the front of the tractor roof on a bracket, which can get up to 24 signals from different satellites to ensure accurate positioning. Then a wire runs from it to the monitor to show you where you are in the field. Then, when you have a monitor that knows where you are, you can make fields. You then have the ability to variable rate corn and Nitrogen. How else can you use monitors and what are they good for? Find out next week!
