As you drive through the field, you would like to know what your planting, how much your spraying, or what your corn yield is. This is when monitors come in handy. A good monitor is called Greenstar GS3, and it connects to the beacon. This one basically shows you what is happening behind the tractor, and where you are in the field. You have to tell it what your pulling and its width, and it does the rest.
In the planter tractor cab, there are special monitors you can get to tell you if all the rows are planting, when they shut off at the end of your field, and what the technology on the planter is doing. For example, there is a 20/20 seedsense monitor by Precision Planting that tells you everything that is happening on the planter. This can then connect to your Ipad to give you a picture of different things like the speed your went, singulation, downforce, and lots of other different things. Then in the fall, the Ipad records the yield and moisture of the corn. With all this data, you can see which corn variety yielded the best, and what you want for next year. All this technology is continually advancing tractors from the past, allowing farmers to farm more acres, and changing the design of tractors.
In fact, the person I interviewed used to work for John Deere, but now he works for Precision Planting. If you want to see the questions I asked him and his answers, click on the interview tab. You can click Here for information about Precision Planting.
